Australian Medical Council (AMC)
The Australian Medical Council (AMC) oversees administering the AMC's qualifications portal, which contains information and updates on verifications handled by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
International Medical Graduates (IMG) are only evaluated through the Standard Pathway of AMC examinations; they are not evaluated through the competent authority or specialized routes.
AMC Pathway
The Australian Medical Council (AMC) examination is held to determine the medical knowledge and clinical skills of medical graduates from across the world whose degrees are not recognized by the Australian Medical Board (MBA).

There are two assessment pathways for International Medical Graduates;
AMC Standard Pathway

What is AMC-CAT MCQ Exam?
The AMC Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) MCQ Examination is a fully integrated multiple-choice question examination administered by computer in a single 3.5-hour session in examination centers around the world.

You must accomplish all 150 of the tasks. Failure to complete all 150 scored items on the examination may result in inadequate information to determine your ability and, as a result, an AMC adaptive scale result. 'Fail —Insufficient data to obtain result' is the examination result.
What is AMC Clinical Examination?
AMC Clinical Examination is an integrated multidisciplinary structured clinical assessment, that tests for skills necessary for a doctor to work under supervised clinical practice.
It evaluates clinical abilities in medicine, surgery, obstetrics, gynecology, paediatrics, and psychiatry, as well as the capacity to communicate with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.

What is Workplace Based Assessment?
Some IMGs in the Standard Pathway can have their clinical skills and knowledge assessed in the workplace by AMC-accredited providers, as an alternative to the AMC Clinical Examination.
This evaluation of your clinical performance in an Australian healthcare setting evaluates your progress in integrating clinical knowledge and skills as a foundation for safe and effective clinical decisions and decision making.
It also evaluates how well you interact with patients and whether you work well with others in the healthcare field.
